కేరళ తీరం అరేబియా సముద్రంలో ఘోర ప్రమాదం సంభించింది. లైబీరియాకు చెందిన భారీ నౌక ప్రమాదానికి గురైంది. దీంతో కొచ్చి తీరంలో అధికారులు హై అలర్ట్ ప్రకటించారు. సముద్ర తీరానికి 38 నాటికల్ మైళ్ల దూరంలో ఈ ప్రమాదం చోటుచేసుకుంది. లైబీరియాకు చెందిన వాణిజ్య నౌక సముద్రంలో పూర్తిగా మునిగిపోయింది.

ఇండియన్ కోస్ట్ గార్డ్‌ వెంటనే అప్రమత్తమైయ్యారు. నౌకలోని 24 మంది సిబ్బందిని రక్షించారు. షిప్‌లో ఉన్న 640 కంటైనర్లలో 13 కంటైనర్లు ప్రమాదకర రసాయనాలు కలిగి ఉన్నాయి. 12 కంటైనర్లలో కాల్షియం కార్బైడ్, మిగిలిన వాటిలో 84.44 మెట్రిక్ టన్నుల డీజిల్, 367.1 మెట్రిక్ టన్నుల ఫర్నేస్ ఆయిల్ ఉన్నాయి. విఝింజమ్‌ పోర్టు నుంచి షిప్ శుక్రవారం బయల్దేరింది.
