ఆఫ్రికా తీరంలో ఆగ్నేయ హిందూ మహాసముద్రంలోని మాయోట్ ద్వీపకల్పంలో ఛీడో తుపాను బీభత్సం సృష్టించింది. ఈ తుపాను ప్రభావం వల్ల ఇప్పటికి 11 మందికిపైగా మరణించారు. మరణాలు సంఖ్య వెయ్యి వరకు ఇంకా పెరిగే అవకాశం ఉన్నట్లు తెలుస్తోంది. ఈ తుపాను వల్ల ఇప్పటికే 246 మంది తీవ్రంగా గాయపడ్డారు. మాయోట్లో గత 90 ఏళ్లలో ఇలాంటి తుపాను రావడం ఇదే మొదటిసారి.

ఛీడో తుపాను గంటకు 220 కి.మీ కంటే ఎక్కువ వేగంతో గాలులు వీచినట్లు అక్కడి అధికారులు చెబుతున్నారు. ఇళ్లు, రోడ్లు, భవనాలు అన్ని ధ్వంసమయ్యాయి. వీటితో పాటు ఆస్తి నష్టం కూడా తీవ్రంగా జరిగినట్లు తెలుస్తోంది.
